Wild Burro Trailhead is a well marked beautiful hike. Very peaceful in the early morning. So many locals walking on the trail and more than happy to tell you about the area. Easy access from the Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain

Did Big Caprock peak from here. Big Caprock peak is mediocre, and there is Buffelgrass at the top. When I got back down, I was surrounded by the Ritz Carlton javelina. These javelina are completely unafraid of humans and I was surrounded by a herd of like 20 of them. These peccaries were rude, obnoxious, and entitled. Years of living at the Ritz Carlton sheltered from the real world where they can be hunted has made them feel superior to working class folks like myself. I was frankly taken aback by the immodest demeanor of these unruly, and unlikeable ungulates. Overall, I think 2 stars is a pretty realistic score for wild burro trailhead, given my unpleasant experience there.

Lovely place for a pretty easy hike. The “good” stuff, petroglyphs and crowned saguaros, are hard to find if nobody tells you where to look. We didn’t really try super hard because we weren’t prepared to do any climbing and couldn’t hike far. But, even without that it was a great trip and had the usual Arizona ability to make anyone look like a great photographer.

Wild Burro Trail (7.5 miles) is one of the many trails that take you into the Tortolita Mountains. We entered right at the trailhead by the Ritz-Carlton, but you can enter from different trails. The trail can be a bit confusing because it mixes with the Lower and Upper Javelina Trail, so make sure you pay attention to the signs. The signs can be missed easily because they have a light brown color that camouflage with the scenery.
The hike was beautiful and it's the perfect place for people that like plants. The first 2 miles are great for kids. After, it gets a bit challenging. Make sure you bring lots of water (it gets hot) and, if you go during the summer, make sure you go early in the morning.
Also, we encountered a family of javelinas and a huge jackrabbit.

Access to easy, intermediate and expert level hiking and mountain bike trails. The Wild Burro uphill is a really tough hike or hike a bike. Trails in the eastern side of the mountain area mostly smooth/flow whereas the west is very raw and expert level. Great all around trails!

I really like the trails from here into the Tortolita Mointains. You have to enter the grounds of the Dove Mountain Ritz Carlton resort to get to the trail parking, but just tell the security attendant where you're headed. They have always been very nice and helpful giving us directions (take the third right) and offering a trail map. The trail head has more maps available and a nice restroom. Enjoy your hike!

We hiked up the wild burro trail and came down Alamo springs trail. Just a little over 6 miles and 3 hours. We enjoyed a herd of Javelina, a couple of Jackrabbits and a beautiful, quiet morning! Great hike for most levels, some elevation changes.

Lots of choices for hikes. Able to make the hike as easy or as difficult as you want. Trails can be easily joined to create over 10 miles of hiking.
