This place is under new ownership and they have the freshest Mediterranean Food I have ever had in Bakersfield(sorry Cafe Med). I had the tabouli plate which was awesome and healthy and filling as it comes with falafels and warmed pita. The new owners are super friendly and helpful and keep the place well stocked and clean. The food there is an absolute gem that you would not expect to find in a convenience store. This review was made on 9-5-20

This is one of my favorite stores in the downtown area. They have great rates for check cashing and the food is probably one of the best in quality, serving size and price. Harry and his staff will make you feel like you're one of the family with their exceptional service. I recommend this place for anyone who doesn't have a lot of time to waste and wants a good value for their money. The lunch specials and sandwiches are going to keep you coming back again and again.

very rude now. I always loved to go there before the new owners bought it. the old owners cared about their customers. The new own is VERY rude and belittled me for using food stamps. I love the salads and I used to go 1 a week, we are from Tehachapi or would be more. But now after feeling discriminated against I will never go again.

The panini of the week this week was a grilled apple and ham panini a great chrunch of the chiabatta bread balanced well with the sweetness of the apple and ham and the new owners are amazing with costumer service and quality the store is very clean and well stocked overall great experience. Super clean downtown market in newly renovated historic building. Friendly staff & quality fresh food, including delicious @TinasTacos661 Mexican Food made to order. Doughnuts, Hot Foods, Groceries, Cleaning Supplies, Gifts, Health & Beauty, Beer, Wine, Coffee, Cigarettes & Lotto. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner served all day. English, Spanish & Punjabi spoken here. I eat at Vest' s whenever I am in the downtown area. It's close to the downtown GET Bus Transit Center. They have different lunch specials and will even make chicken Caesar salads, cheeseburgers, bacon sandwiches, etc all fresh made to order. It's my secret place to get a great lunch at a great price, sit down at the inside tables and rest with Conri (my service dog) before we go on about our day.

I found maggots in a snack I purchase at this store. I didnt feel comfortable eating anything I bought from this place. When I tried to return it they told me they could switch it out or give me a dollar. The owner did not understand that I just didnt feel comfortable eating their food. She told me it wasnt her problem. When i told her I would call the Health Dept she told me she didnt care. If the owner of this place didnt want to help their customers or even check to see if the other products were ok, this makes me wonder how many other products are infested with maggots and has anyone ate maggots without knowing. Be Careful. The owner is very rude and the cashier was helpful.
