My one tip: look down! We saw dozens, if not hundreds, of starfish right there on the dock! Its fascinating to see them move. The dock is a great spot for a quick bite, maybe right before a kayak trip. I confess, childlike as I am, I was nearly too excited by the starfish to eat and don't remember anything about my grilled cheese other than being reminded to eat it. The public restrooms are clean and well-stocked and the dock is lit well at night. Castine is such a strong contender for the cutest sleepy coastal Maine town, and the dock is a must-do!

Castine is home to the Maine Maritime Academy and is drenched in history dating to the pre-Revolutionary era. The Town Dock is a great spot for enjoying lovely scenery, excellent food at both the Captain's Catch (a take-out stand) and Dennett's seafood restaurant. It is certainly a not-to-miss destination.

We had a very nice time here. Great views! Very quaint area with plenty of places to sit and watch all the boats coming and going. You can also look at the Maine Maritime Academy’s assortment of boats. There’s a pavilion with picnic tables, an old fashioned food shack, a couple of more formal restaurants, lots of dinghies-mostly inflatable and boat tours. Ample parking and an overall happy feeling about the place!

This is in Castine, Maine. Quiet and quaint near Maine Maritime Academy. Not a lot to do but enjoy the ocean and views. Also get a great seafood meal at Dudley's Refresher.
