We stayed at the Castine Inn for one night but oh I wish we could have stayed longer. This is a turn of the century inn right in the heart of beautiful Castine. Easy walking distance to the down marina (full of boats and awesome views) or up-hill to the town green and community golf course. Everything in Castine is approachable in foot, ditch your car. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The public rooms on the first floor are tastefully decorated and the dining room has an exquisite mural painted by a local artist. On to the east side of the building is a huge wrap around porch with tables and sun umbrellas where we spent the late after and enjoyed drinks and felt so spoiled after along car ride. In view from the porch is a gorgeous garden with plantings of boxwood and day lilies.
Our breakfast was very complete with pastry and scones, as well as some eggs and great coffee. True, I did not want to leave as Saturday arrived and we had to catch he ferry. But I will remember this place when I come back to Maine and this time I will stay longer.
*Please note our room had two twin beds which we requested and it was tight with all our stuff. But it was very serviceable with a bathroom and French doors. This is an Inn built over one hundred years ago and it is not an express Motel with cookie cutter rooms long the highway.

The staff were quite apathetic. When we arrived, the teenager manning the front desk barely acknowledged our presence, since they were so engrossed with their device. There was a birthday party in the pub and d ing area, so it was closed to us. The partygoers were having a great time, but their noise, karaoke and loud conversation below our window was annoying, to say the least. The room was clean and as represented. The building is old and the windows were very difficult to operate. Luckily, a decent fan was available and helped. Breakfast was excellent. Good coffee and a wide variety of proteins, fruit and breads were available. All in all, an average stay.

We planned a ten day, first time trip to Maine for October 2023. It was difficult finding lodging at the end of the season and for ten consecutive days in the area. When we contacted Castine Inn, Heather set our minds at ease and worked with us scheduling our stay, as well as detailing sight seeing options that are also featured on the website. The hospitality offered upon arrival by Innkeepers, Deb and Walt, rivaled any we could encounter in our southern state. They serve a delicious continental breakfast of local fruits, yogurt, and handmade muffins and scones that can’t be beat. Updates are being made to the Inn. Our room, #1, in the historic Inn offered charm with cleanliness, adjustable temperature controls, a comfortable bed, and space for our extended stay. All employees allowed us to feel “at home” while being available for requests, which were few. A bar area is perfect for a nightcap. The Inn is located in a safe, convenient area for walking to shops, restaurants, the harbor, and exploring historic buildings. Our experience was so positive, we feel fortunate to have randomly connected with the Inn family for our initial visit to the area. We hope to return!

The Castine Inn is a landmark property in the historical town of Castine, ME. One of two Inns- directly in town. Over the years I have seen it go down hill and perhaps this visit- a tiny bit better. It's disappointing to see that the owners have put so little into the property nor the personnel to make it warm and charming- no-one at the front desk to greet people nor interact with the guests. Especially on a holiday weekend. A dining room that could serve lunch and dinner & a bar that could be a wonderful social meeting place. Neither operating. The town and the tourists deserve better and I hope one day they get it back again.

Stayed here for the past week and had a wonderful experience.||The breakfast(homemade baked goods) is terrific! The managers, Debb and Walt, are so kind and helpful.||Dinner at the pub is not only convenient but excellent!||Room was a little small but it's an old Inn so to be expected, linens are lovely and the porch is beautiful!

A beautiful late 1800s hotel in Castine, Maine. Gorgeous interior, sweet bar, and best bartender in town, Tony. Set on Main Street in this tiny town among other large and gorgeous homes. A lovely garden, plenty of parking, breakfast with homemade scones and muffins (lightest, flakiest scones I’ve had in forever), and wrap around porch. Our room was small but adequate (think 1800s). They do have bigger rooms. Bed and bedding excellent. Shower modern and nice and everything clean. Our room had no air conditioner and none of the rooms have TVs, but there is a media room in the public area. I would come back here in a heartbeat! A FB group member told me “Don’t forget Castine” and I won’t, partially because of this inn.
