Julian is an excellent horseman! He has so much knowledge and teaches in a manner that builds confidence and gives knowledge from the beginner rider to the very experienced. He has helped me in so many ways to get back to riding my quarter horse and helps with my new yearling. Great personality to go with all that. Would highly recommend!

I’ve been training with Julian/Tanque Verde Horses for about 9 months now. Julian comes to my place to train with my horse and I, and I usually ride one of his horses once a week.
I have a young mare who can be extremely stubborn and challenging to work with. With Julian’s positive and knowledgeable approach, I’ve managed to advance in my riding skills, learning and using the tools needed to be a safe and confident rider. With his positive and enthusiastic outlook, Julian has encouraged me to continue to work on improving my confidence level and how to be a better leader for my horse. Every session he challenges me to overcome barriers, with safety always as the priority. To become a better rider, Julian gives me the opportunity to ride and train with different horses at his barn. His facility is well-kept, his horses in great shape, and the location is a short distance from beautiful trail rides in the wash. I highly recommend Tanque Verde Horses for horse lovers/owners looking to improve/expand riding skills or if you’re looking for a place where you can take trail rides on well-trained horses, in a supportive environment.

Julian trains the horse and mentors the rider, with a good old fashioned cowboy approach of riding safe, riding smart, and ensuring the well being of both you and your horse. He isn’t stuck in any single model of what success is, but meets you where you are with your horse, and figures out whatever it takes to get you up, happy, and safe on your favorite ride.

At Grace Falls Farm we have a mare, Autumn, that seemed darn near explosive under the saddle, with a twitch at every movement and the feeling she just wanted to bolt out from underneath you. Julian rode her three times a week for two weeks and then switched to riding alongside myself for the next couple weeks. It wasn’t some miracle cure, it was just time, patience, and repetition.

There is no fairy story here. Autumn is still a spirited horse and not for beginners, but I now have the confidence to work directly with her personality and continue moving forward with one good ride after another, with an occasional challenging ride that is just another opportunity to grow. Following Julian’s guidance on consistency continues to make each ride a little better. I would recommend Julian to anyone who wants an amazing training experience!

Tanque Verde horses is a great resource to get your horses in for a tune up and refresh on training. They are also great at tuning up us riders. They are friendly, interactive, and great with kids. Highly recommend!!
