The wife and I were traveling up to Houlton for a family event; didn't really thing the 2 hotels there would amount to much, but we were very much surprised and happy with the Shiretown Inn & Suites. Now we did stay in the newer rooms near the front of the hotel so we can't say anything about the older rooms but, boy were the hallways nice, rooms spotless, and front desk help was very nice. Also their is a restaurant on site that was extremely good! Can't help but give the Shiretown 5 stars!!! We will always stay there when in town!!!

Excellent for crossing US/CA border... It's close to 10-15 minutes away. No frills but very clean. My only complaint is that depending on where your room is (we have stayed many times) people opening and closing the outside door is extremely loud. That being said, we have had rooms where we can barely hear the outside door.

The Shiretown Inn and Suites has recently provided me a longer term stay through a company I work with. Thusly, I've been able to experience their accommodations, service, and location more than most (we're talking several seasons).

Throughout all of this time, the accommodations have been very comfortable, functional, clean, and very inviting. I've gotten to know the team that works here and even the owner...all good hearted, ethical people that have found the perfect balance of top notch clean and responsive service without being obtrusive in the slightest.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all for your service, kindness, and dedication that has provided me with my home away from home.

** Whenever it snows, even the heaviest of falls, the parking lot is always clear to drive, making driving to work no problem!

The room was very hot and uncomfortable. I called the feont desk and they said they would have someone come to the room to adjust it. Never saw anyone. So I called back and Jade told me the manger could adjust it from where ever they was. Never got adjusted and we had to sleep with the door open because it was so hot we couldn't sleep. I then complained in the morning about it to the man working the front desk and ask for my money back or at least half of it. And he said he would have the manger call me. I never heard from her and they took my money anyways. The food was good at the sports pub. But this hotel doesn't vaule their customers!!!

We got a hotel for a night for my fiancé birthday took her out to eat and we had drinks when we came back to the hotel that night to go sleep around two am my gurl saw a bedbug right by her face jumped out that bed I called front desk they took pictures of it later that morning manager tried tell me that it wasn’t bedbug I know what bedbugs are what they look like she Said she give us discount on our card never got any money back been calling her she has called me back been over a week that building is connected to the restaurant The restaurant is called down under so be careful careful people. You might be eating bedbugs. Have a nice day people peace out.

Update: The air-conditioner is a heatpump. Management has remote access to the thermostat in your room through a computer app. The thermostat is locked so you can't turn it back on if it's turned off. After several complaints, the thermostat in my room has remained where I set it. This review can be updated at anytime.

$140 a night? Let's begin.
For being a small town motel, not a hotel or resort, these prices already seem "off." I travel the US staying in hotels and airbnb's every couple weeks to once a month.
Walking in I was greeted with a smile by a wonderful young lady at the front desk. She was kind and got everything together for my check in. I chose this motel only because it has a pool and laundry, which are advertised on their website and Expedia. I'm a trucker, so I thought I could do my laundry, enjoy the pool for a bit and get some quality sleep. I mean, for a $140 motel, there better be something of great value.
1st - Well the washers and dryers (yes plural) don't work like they are supposed to. First set by the pool doesn't drain leaving your clothes slopping, and if code the dryer won't dry them. Second set, by the front section, washer drains but doesn't spin them well enough and the dryer doesn't get them all the way dry.
2nd - THERE IS NO POOL OR FITNESS CENTER! How are you going to boast about a pool and a fitness center, and they've been closed for a couple years? Take them off your amenities so it's not misleading.
3rd - towels are stiff and rough, design is from the 90s, but thankfully it is clean. Bed is comfortable. Shower has a retro shower head that doesn't adjust well or really do anything but spray.
So over all a $60/night motel is way overpriced for $140/night. No pool, no fitness center, 90s rooms, broken laundry and stiff linen. At least you have good staff.

Great place to stay in this quaint, small town. Rooms were newly renovated and very clean and comfortable. Nice having some extra seating at desk and table, plus an arm chair. Cozy bed with great pillows! Only wish they had an area to gather together outside with family instead of in room. Good location too with a few restaurants in walking distance. If you visit, go to the museum! Would definitely stay again !
