Update: Came back 13 years later and the salami sandwich on wheat is still good. Counter lady was friendly and I appreciate how she made sure my order detail was correct.

Salami and hot chile sandwich. My fav lunch 2011-2013.

Such a wonderful shop with super lovely, thoughtful staff. I was even having a problem with my shoe and the man I asked for (long shot) help was SO kind. Absolutely recommend for anything you need or kind people to brighten your day. A real gem.

When I walked in the store and saw how fresh the produce was and how clean it was that it had to be good. I got the hot pastrami with everything and it was so good omg! It's a classy joint. An amazing wine selection and a pretty decent alcohol section and really good single beers.

Sammy's is great for a quick sandwich. They have a ton of options for toppings and the prices are cheap. I was very impressed the first time I went there with the Dutch Crunch bread and the chipotle cheddar cheese--gave my sandwich a kick. The line moves super fast and the cashiers are always nothing but friendly. I love grabbing a sandwich here on a quick lunch break!

What a find! Never knew this place: 1.) Existed; 2.) Served sandwiches inside (I guess if I didn't know it existed than 2 wouldn't matter...)

Walking inside, I was a little hesitant since it is a convenience store as well, but then after that first bite into my chicken salad sandwich, I was def. glad we ventured into this new place.

There was actually a lot of sandwiches to choose from off their menu. It was between the chicken salad and roast beef for me, and I ended up going with the chicken salad. There was pretty good depth of flavor to the chicken salad, and it wasn't overwhelmingly mayo-e if that makes sense. The size of the sandwich I would say is about 1.5 servings. More than enough for one person with a healthy appetite.

Only gripe if I had to pick one would be the small chips selection, but that's about it. Probably going to go back to try out their other specialty sandwiches.

Even if there is a busy line during lunch hours, the line moves quickly. Definitely seems like a Mom & Pops joint with friendly and efficient staffs behind the counter to make your order just right.

Sammy's on 2nd is probably my favorite sandwich shop in SF.
