There was a group of us in town for a cheer competition. The staff was excellent. They knew there were kids coming and the staff went out of their way to get snacks and stuff for the kids. Very nice. Breakfast was decent. Unfortunately the pool was closed but overall, awesome. Thank you for your kindness.

We only stayed 1 night here but will return should the need to be in Ellsworth rise.
The room was fresh & clean with a fully stocked kitchenette. Full size dishwasher included.
The staff at the front desk was very helpful with our particular needs.
The only major downside was the indoor pool was closed!! I; personally book a room according to it having a pool. The pool was listed as an amenity; but closed for the season. I don't think it's that difficult to update the website according to these changes. Other than that; I would recommend

Basically you get what you paid. They do offer fair priced rooms around, yet several areas require improvements to be a better hotel. The guest room is clean per my two-time stays, but:
1. Breakfast offers no hot food, with near-expiration items like eggs and yogurts.
2. The beds and pillows are too soft and lack support.
3. No stove in the kitchen.
4. Hard to take a good shower because most water flows down the lower faucet instead of coming from the shower head. I first reported the problem to the front desk in September but same issue happened in October when we came back for the second time in a different room, so I suspect this is a widespread problem that did not get fixed.
5. The recently remodeled rooms definitely need better sound proofing.

The Hawthorn was disappointing from the start when we reserved a room with King bed only to be told there were only Queen rooms available. I asked if there were pet free rooms due to my husbands allergies, but was told no. He went to check out the room, it was clean however we really wanted a King room. The girl at the front desk was very friendly and seemed to try to find a room, suddenly one appeared! We went up to the room only to find the ceiling plaster was literally ready to fall in. We went back to the desk and since this back and forth had gone on for quite some time and we were tired, we kept the room with queen beds. In the morning we asked the front desk if there was any way to move to a king and again were told they were sold out. We mentioned the ceiling problem in the room from the night before and was told it was "no big deal". We went to breakfast and suddenly another king room appeared. Since this was a standard king and not a suite like the queen room we had, we wound up staying put. While the staff is very friendly and the rooms clean, I give this hotel 2 stars due to the back and forth on whether rooms are available or not. Also the hallway rugs and rug in front of the front desk needed vacuuming. The rooms have LVP tile and are clean. The breakfast is pretty basic, warm your own egg sandwich in the microwave (which does not work very well), coffee machine was broken and there was no sign so guests wound up getting coffee that was cold. One of the breakfast staff did finally make a pot of coffee and served guests (too late for us). Lastly, there was a dog behind the front counter which I think is very unprofessional. We wound up checking out 1 day early. This place needs better management. I would not stay again.

I did not pay for my room where I am a CLC customer. The room is clean and spacious, But it is on the 2nd floor and at the other end of the building. There is no elevator. The Internet is very slow in this section of the building. I write reports for my work and it took twice as long to do them. The bandwidth is not strong enough to run my ROKU. Haven't eaten breakfast yet or used the bathroom, so those will have to wait to be commented on. But my favorite Maine restaurant is just down the street. Governor's.

Very friendly staff and comfortable accommodations. The kids particularly loved the 24/7 hot chocolate.

Positive: The staff at the front desk were extremely nice and helpful Negative: My bed was covered in blood. Top sheet, comforter, bottom sheet, all 3 pillows and even the lampshade had blood on them.

Positive: Desk clerks were very nice and helpful. Negative: I didn't realize we would have stairs to climb as they do not have an elevator. It certainly was good for me to climb the stairs but I would think a second floor room should be mentioned when booking & that they do not have an elevator.
