Nice store, sorta clean, with public restroom. Yes, this is a great cause, but it’s still a thrift store. Items are overpriced across the board. They have a wide selection of items from luggage to home goods to clothing to jewelry to books. Lady who manages the store didn’t greet us. I passed her several times and she didn’t start taking to me until I was ready to check out and asked her how she was doing. 🙂

I haven't made it there to shop, but they have a lot of inventory. The Good Shepherd Humane Society kept my cats while I was newly homeless & in hospital for attempting medication overdose suicide. They were wonderful to them. My friends take their things there to donate to such a good cause that not only helps animals, but people too.

They sure have a better cause than the thrift store in town operated by a "Christian non-profit organization". They took almost ALL of my possessions from the house I rented at their non-profit community "Echo Village" to sell at their store, while I was recovering in hospital for 10 days for attempting suicide. They'd evicted me in court after my lease ended, for reporting them to HUD for their refusal to fix my broken heater for the first month I was a tenant. I was on apartment waitlists in 3 counties for months with nowhere to go. The sheriff sent 5 vehicles & deputies to throw me & my pets out. The review of their store has details.

I'm now facing 6 years in prison & a $10,000 fine because they had secretly filed a false affidavit saying I threatened to "burn down Echo Village", a 1st degree Felony Terroristic Threat. I learned about this after being pulled over 3 months later for a broken headlight, courtesy of a deer. I spent 22 hours in jail, then all that month's income to get out or I'd still be there, 8 months later. Uber's background check company reported a felony charge to them, so they deactivated me until it's resolved. It has cost my job, my car plus everything they stole from me, so I've lost a lot already.

When I first told them in March 2023 that I need surgery with a recovery time up to a year, they gave me the non-renewal of lease 5 months ahead of time to prevent me staying to recover. They're just wealthy, cruel bullies bent on revenge, not Christian in the least.

I just had my last court hearing where I again would not take a 2 year "diversion offer". If I did, I couldn't petition to get it off my record for ANOTHER year, so I wouldn't be able to work for Uber again for 3 more years, that's IF it goes off my record. It's pure abuse of the justice system by people with the wealth, lawyers & connections to do it. I'm dealing with a very busy public defender. The plaintiffs hope I'll just give up, but I've said all along, I want my day in court so I can clear my name, restore my record & try to get on with my life. It's not fair that they can do this to someone with no truth behind the accusation. It's a felony to lie to law enforcement, but they had no problem doing just that to exact their revenge.

They may take away my freedom if I'm convicted - it already feels like I've lost that. They can't take away my integrity or my First Amendment right to talk about it. My 2 day jury trial begins April 24 in Eureka Springs.

Consider which one to spend your money supporting. It's not about how fancy, big or heavily stocked the store is. It's not about the creation of a 501(c)3 & what kind of philanthropic reputation that can afford, using a Christian platform to do it. It's certainly not about where to then spend even more money buying their coffee. It's about integrity, morals & ethics that Good Shepherd has, & the other store's owners do not. Spend based on that criteria.

UPDATE Dec. 2024
With a different public defender, learned in discovery evidence that the claim is that after eviction court, I said I'd "burn MY house down, with me & my pets inside". Suzie told police & signed an affidavit claiming that I said I would destroy the house by burning it. The police didn't come to check on her story. There was no concern for my safety after she told them I said I would do that to commit suicide! Instead, the ESPD apparently then rushed the report to the prosecuting attorney who jumped right on it. No evidence, witness, or logic behind it. Maybe they're all complicit in any crazy story they're fed by these people.

Feb. 2025, prosecutor offered my attorney "How about only a ONE year diversion?" He bit off way more than he can chew, so I will let him choke on it.

I like to check it out every time I go through Eureka. They get some fun stuff and have good prices. It is not a big store. If your looking for furniture they don't have any at this location. They send it to their store in Berryville.l got this cute winter scarf for $1.00

My experience in the store today was extremely disheartening. From the moment I went in, and attempted to be friendly, a woman who apparently was being trained seemed friendly. The other woman on the other hand, was rude, cold, and just plain unfriendly. I was surprised since I am acquainted with her. Every attempt to be”human” was met with disregard, even contempt! Being a small store, I overheard some of the conversations between the two women. It wasn’t good. At one point , this improper volunteer stated she would be leaving soon, but wasn’t going to until-and she pointed a thumb at me over her back and said- “Not until he leaves “. I also believe there were other references made about me to the woman being trained. While shopping I found an item to purchase and was waiting to pay. However both women disappeared into the back for several minutes and I just became fed up and left. As it turns out, I had to return to purchase the item I found earlier. When I went in, this time both women were very grim, and had little positive to say. I paid and left. Behavior and conduct like this I will not tolerate. Check your security cameras! Talk to the women separately! If this is acceptable, I will never conduct my business there again. And to think, I was shopping locally to benefit the shelter! Thank you for allowing reviews.

The items in the store are mostly in great shape. The store isn't as big as I thought it was, but they made great use of space. The lady working was nice, made small talk and recommended rooms we didn't even know were open to us! The prices weren't horrible, most things were around $5, but we got overcharged, pretty significantly. I tried to mention it to the lady working but she just kept telling me that all sales were final. I bought the following items:

a dress - $5
Ladies button up shirt - $6
Ladies button up shirt - $6
Black denim jeans - $5
T-shirt - $4
Paperback book - $1

These items should have been $27 but they rang up as $33. I tried to tell her she rang my dress up twice, but the receipt she gave me had no items on it, just the $33 debit card charge. I pointed it out twice, my husband mentioned it once, and all she said was all sales were final.

We shop in Eureka all the time, as we're local-ish, so this would have fit in to our permanent rotation perfectly. I agree with their cause, and I don't necessarily "not" recommend this store, but WATCH CLOSELY when they check you out because they will not own up to their mistakes!

I cant IMAGINE that there was a waffle maker priced at $400.OO, had to be mis marked. I got a Cuisinart wafflemaker there several months ago. It was $40.00. It is the best one I have ever had. Normally their appliances are not nearly that high but this was because it seemed new and of course the brand. I have gotten so many bargains there, and by the way, not many bargains at Echo, which many times seems overpriced.

They are a thrift store and support our no-kill animal shelter in Carroll County (there is another store in Berryville). Their prices are affordable and they often have special deals which offer price breaks on special items--like any item you can wear is $2!! They have clothes, kitchen items, some furniture, knick-knacks, and books (my fav), just to name a few! The staff at both stores are super friendly. We are NW Arkansas, U.S. of A, y'all. ♡
