I am a satisfied long-term customer and can't say enough good things about Damariscotta Hardware. Every time I visit, the staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, always taking the time to explain options and ensure I get exactly what I need. They have a fantastic selection of products and rental equipment at competitive prices.
Recently, I purchased a battery-powered leaf blower, which, when working, was awesome but had an engineering flaw, causing it to fail after a few uses. Justine, the store manager, and staff assisted me in returning the unit. Unfortunately, this happened 3 times, yet each time, I was met with compassion and understanding. After the 3rd unit failure, the purchase amount was credited, and a gift card was gifted to me for my patience and troubles.
I, in turn, bought a top of the line gas-powered blower from Damariscotta Hardware, which their service department can service when or if needed. I was definitely satisfied with ease of return and purchase of the blowers, and knowing they can service what they sell in-house is definitely a bonus.
And now I am impressed!
I received an e-mail from the store manager stating she had been in contact with the manufacturer of the battery-powered blower and a small number of units had a faulty switch. They offered to replace all the stores' inventory with new units and hoped I would take one for being a loyal and patient customer.
Thank you for going above and beyond for me, Justine! I will gladly put the new battery-powered blower to the test.
Your hard work is really appreciated and makes future purchases easier.
Customer service here is TOP-NOTCH. They stand behind their products and treat customers with respect and compassion!
Without a doubt, Damariscotta Hardware is a great place to do business, I look forward to working together in the future.

Justine, the store manager was great. Her extensive knowledge of paint helped us with our current project. Went out of her way to get an item that was just delivered and not on shelf yet. Very nice person.

I've spent tons of money at this store. I recently purchase an already cut 3 foot piece of copper pipe. That is how they sold it to me. No one told me it wouldn't be returnable ! When I realized I got the wrong size, they would't refund my money because you can't return cut piping even though that is how they sold it to me ! I'll no longer shop there !!!

It would help if the owners posted photos of some of the aisles; most helpful would be plumbing and electrical parts, bird and pet supplies, the aisle with the multitude of sliding drawers containing screws, bolts, etc; maybe painting supplies. I notice a difference between Hammond Lumber, True Value, etc. in the offerings in the Midcoast region. You can send photos to Google Maps from your cell phone camera.

I make pretty regular trips here. There’s always someone to help me out if I have questions. They have a great selection and you can pretty much always find what you need or an alternative to get you by. The only negative thing I have experienced here was a couple of instances lately where the cashiers were chit chatting about personal stuff and not being as attentive as I would have liked. It’s purely a personal opinion but I feel the impression I get on my way out the door has a big impact on defining my visit. Again, this only happened a couple of times, generally pretty decent service at the register.

Damariscotta Hardware’s store manager Justine lacks the ability to manage her employees or provide basic levels of customer service and communication. She has lost a loyal customer for life by treating me like dirt. Shame.
