Colton's is usually a good experience and tonight we visited for an early Christmas treat. However, this visit asked for a salad as a side. This is my salad after I flipped it around in the dressing to coat it and put it all on one side of the plate. This was before taking a bite. About 1/3 what it typically is, and about 3 times as much salad dressing. Husband's looked the same. The waitress was kind enough to give us another. The steak was not the one I ordered, but at least it was good.

I came in here the other day with my mom and we got seated at a moderately nice section. There was a huge family gathering that (thankfully) was not too noisy.

Our server (Sarah, I think her name was) was VERY great! She was very upbeat, which is a nice change of pace from the usual servers that barely pay attention. She gave compliments to our table multiple times which was a change of pace from the usual “I don’t get paid enough to be here” attitude that servers give off.

I found the food to be somewhat good, but I had trouble eating to be honest. I feel like it was too big of a portion that they served and the sides were not bad but could use some work.

Overall, a lovely location to dine at!

We were seated and informed that the Kitchen was on hold and they did not know when they would be taking orders again. We never saw a wait staff person. The hostess got drinks for us and delivered the messages. This is the first time we have experienced this in a restaurant. There was lots of staff walking around. It was interesting to say the least. I don’t know that we will ever be back.

I’ve been here 6-7 times. I order Beef Tips, Chopped Steak, or a steak. They always ask, “how would you like that cooked?” I always say, “Medium,” and I get Well Done. What’s the point of asking me? The first few times, I figured that it was just an inexperienced cook.
Their beans are always UNDERcooked. Crispy green beans? Why? I ordered them twice and gave up. Pinto beans, not hard, but not creamy either.

It seems odd that the food is actually very tasty, but that it’s poorly cooked.

Today I ordered medium Beef Tips and got a well done Chopped Steak. The server forgot another table’s drink and she forgot my sauted mushrooms. I think that there are some training issues at this restaurant.

They are all friendly, I will give them that.

When we checked in, we were told the wait would be less than thirty minutes. Our party was four adults and two kids. After thirty minutes was up and watching several parties that came in after us get seated, I asked the hostess about how much longer it would be. She stated that they were waiting for a larger table to open up. Finally, after 48 minutes, we were seated at a table that had been empty since we got in the lobby. Once we were seated, our service got much better. Our waitress was attentive and timely. The food came out in a reasonable time. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience. It's just very frustrating watching party after party get seated before you. Only to get seated at a table that had been empty the whole time.

Another Well Run Colton's Location!

I was in the Batesville area for business and decided to try out Colton's location in town. I have eaten at many Coltons all over the USA and wanted to see if this location was just as good or better than other Colton's locations. When I arrived it was at the beginning of dinner service and already starting to fill up with diners. The hostess asked me if I wanted the bar or dining room and I chose the dining room. When I was seated the server in my section came to my table within a few minutes. Once she went over some of the items that Colton's is known for, she took my drink order and gave me some time to choose my meal.

I ordered the Filet with a side of grilled shrimp and green beans. When my server dropped off my beer, she also came with a basket of fresh hot rolls, which were right out of the oven and the butter melted on the buns making it a great snack while I waited for my food. I had asked the server to bring out my shrimp first, and I was in no rush for my main course. The shrimp came out and they were plump and juicy, still hot and served with a side of melted butter with a lemon wedge and on a bed of rice. The shrimp were a great starter and they were seasoned just right and not too salty.

My steak came out cooked just a little over medium-rare, so not quite how I wanted it but I did not complain, as it was a very good cut of beef, and tasted very good. The mashed potatoes and gravy were a hit as they were very good. The green beans weren't much to write home about, but they were edible. Overall a good inexpensive meal, with great service, and the server took her time showing me how to pay on the tablet at the table. If I'm in Batesville again, I will most definitely come back
