The views were great and so were the hosts but the location had a very small selection of places to eat and places to see so if you're looking for a quiet cottage and views then this is a great place.

My Wife and I tend to stay in Hampton Inn, Sheraton, etc. However we thought it would be fun to get away for a week while our kitchen was being renovated. This turned out to be perfect, it is off the beaten track, but a beautiful one hour ride to Bar Harbor, 30 Minutes to Belfast (a cute town). Beds are comfortable, the place was clean, considering the cabins are built in the 50's it smelled fresh and clean. Good hot water, water access for the dogs, and CHARM. If you live watching stars, you have clear sky access almost from horizon to horizon. We will come back, and book direct with the owner. Yes there is WiFi .

The cottages are small but very clean and comfortable! The view is amazing! Even though there are several cabins in a row it still feels private and open.

Been coming to Castine Cottages since I was little. They are the perfect spot to relax and unplug for the week. Love sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee and watching the sea gulls in the morning. Close enough to Bar Harbor and Camden for day trips. Castine is a lovely little town and the sunsets on the beach are beautiful.

I have been staying here since the 70's, when I was a child, sometimes for a month at a time. Yes they are old, very rustic cabins, but very cozy, quaint. and the view makes it worth it. Don't go expecting modern anything. Go expecting pease, quiet, and relaxation. The town/waterfront is historic and beautiful, and the public beach is very nice., with several other attractions such as the MMA, blacksmith, and museum, all within a minutes drive.

If you want to be near the attractions of the area but not in the middle of it all, then you'd like these cottages. Our rustic cottage was very well equipped and there's a short path down to the water. Dog friendly, our corgi loved hanging out with the owner's yellow Lab. The owners were very nice and helpful. Nice little gem of a place.

Castine Cottages is a wonderful family run business. You will feel right at home in this warm, and natural environment. The view is incredible and the cabins are beautiful. I talked to a couple who have been coming to the cottages every summer for 22 years, makes you rethink your life a little! Definitely recommend!

Very relaxing spot to stay. These are older "rustic" but perfectly nice family run individual cabins overlooking a small part of Penobscot Bay. The cabin we stayed in for a week (and all 6 appear basically the same) have two bedrooms a bathroom with stall shower, living room and small but adequate kitchen (coffee maker, range, microwave and all pots and pans etc.). One bedroom had a full and the other two twins and the couch in the living room folded out. It is about a mile and a half from the small but historic village of Castine, which has a few places to eat and a waterfront area. There is also a beach in easy driving distance in Castine with a salt water pool (warmer) as well as a beach on the bay (free). We were there during COVID and it was perfect for "social distancing" with our own private living space, ability to have meals in etc. The property itself has a dock on the bay and you can swim off it at higher tides. It would be a perfect spot for kayaking in the protected bay but you need to bring your own or possibly rent locally (there is a place in Castine). There is a nature preserve (Witherle Woods) in Castine with nice hiking trails which look out over a larger part of Penobscot Bay. Bar Harbor and Mt Desert Island are about an hour away. They also they welcome dogs which was required for us. Don't expect luxury and you will be very happy here for a relaxed Maine getaway. And the internet worked fine!
