I have owned and operated a bed and breakfast for 15 years and have purchased many coverlets over that time, usually from Portugal. I made the decision that going forward I would only purchase American made products so I just purchased my first coverlet from Bates Mill Store, the Colonial Rose matelasse in white. I have washed it twice already and it is the most beautiful cozy looking soft and drapey, not too heavy and easy to wash and dry coverlet I have ever purchased. I am so in love that I am going to order the next one as soon as I finish this review. I am in love!

I got George Washington's Choice Blanket. The reason I went for this blanket is I am a hot sleeper and I needed cotton to sleep better. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. I can't sleep with. It has a strong chemical smell. I called they said it's not chemical so I don't know what it is, but I couldn't sleep with it. I even washed it and still didn't go away! It shedded crazy while washing! I hadn't seen something like this before. I do NOT recommend this blanket.

I bought a beautiful Abagail Adams bedspread it was listed as a second quality, but I have yet to find anything wrong with it. I absolutely love the bedspread and will definitely buy from them again.

I have been buying & using Bates Mill's bedspreads for 30 yrs. My mother bought my very first one for my graduation gift. In my 25 yrs. being married I've bought 2 more for our bed, 1 for each of my children's bed when they were first learning to make their own beds. I bought them the "New England Traditional" bedspread because of the border around the top edge. They had conquered making a beautiful bed by the age of 7 🙂 I LOVE these quality bedspreads! They are very well made & durable... still gorgeous after many years of use and washing. My husband recently replaced our mattress with one of the new super thick ones & now I'm ordering a custom sized bedspread.

If you want a good quality USA American made bedspread definitely order through Bates. You get what you pay for! I ordered the Queen Elizabeth metelasse' in French Blue and what a beautiful bedspread heavyweight as well. I plan on ordering one from their terry collection.
